Technology with a Healing Touch

While back and neck pain is not typically life threatening, it is life altering. Back and neck problems can rob you of basic functions such as sitting, standing, sleeping and walking, often causing chronic pain and disability. At Texas Back Institute (TBI) we are leaders in spine care. TBI patients are commonly saying, “You have given my life back to me. I am now able to enjoy life again!”

It is these words of gratitude along with our commitment to improving patient care that inspires us to do more. Under one roof, you’ll find an unmatched team of expert medical professionals and rehabilitation specialists - an integrated multi-specialty team that includes prevention, conservative care, surgical care, rehabilitation, research and development.

Our Services

People who suffer from back and neck problems discover it is hard to find good answers about what causes their problems and what can be done to treat their condition. As one of the nation’s first medical groups to offer a full range of services to treat back and neck pain, Texas Back Institute is the first and last place you’ll ever need to go. Today, nine out of ten patients recover without requiring back surgery. Texas Back Institute’s “surgery as a last option” approach to spine treatment has been the cornerstone of our care philosophy for more than two decades.

Additional treatments available from a physician, chiropractor or physical therapist may help provide a remedy. You want to look for a physician or chiropractor that can provide a number of different treatment options.

Non-surgical Care: Through diagnostic procedures, pain management, patient education, physical therapy, research and return-to-work programs, back pain solutions can be realized without surgery.

Chiropractic Care: Paired with exercise, chiropractic treatment can make back and muscles more resistant to strain and pain. Skilled manipulation restores mobility in the joints by applying controlled force to change the stress on damaged tissues.

Surgery: The spine surgeons at Texas Back Institute are leaders in surgical treatment options for back and neck pain, from the most common outpatient procedures, to the most complex cases. TBI physicians have pioneered several revolutionary surgical procedures and are part of multiple FDA clinical trials.

Diagnostic Procedures:
Thanks to the most advanced diagnostic testing available, physicians and providers at Texas Back Institute are able to identify potential causes of back and neck pain, greatly reducing the need for surgery.

Pain Management: Some patients experiencing pain may need support for both the physical and psychological consequences of pain. Clinical psychologists work closely with surgeons, physiatrists and chiropractors to help patients deal with all issues concerning their pain. Pain treatment therapies include heat, ice and electrical stimulation, along with psychological services such as biofeedback, hypnotherapy and counseling.

Patient Education:
Education is crucial to any treatment plan. Patients learn proper posture, how to move, and how to best perform daily activities such as lifting and bending. Patients assume responsibility for continuing their own exercise and therapy programs by learning techniques they can do at home, greatly reducing the cost of care.

Physical Therapy: Physical therapists help both surgical and non-surgical patients by working one-on-one and in small groups. Working closely with physicians and chiropractors, they evaluate each patient by looking at their strength, range of motion, coordination and balance.

Research:
As leaders in new treatments for back and pain, our physicians, surgeons and chiropractors at Texas Back Institute are on the leading-edge of spine care. They have authored numerous scientific articles, books and research studies on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of back and neck pain.

Return to Work:
This program provides rehabilitation to specifically address and define safe work parameters. The goal is to return the worker to gainful employment by teaching proper techniques for each patients specific work environment. We communicate effectively with everyone who is involved with the injured worker.
