Isador H. Lieberman, M.D.

Internationally known spine surgeon Isador Lieberman, M.D., is an orthopedic spine surgeon with Texas Back Institute and serves as the Medical Director of the Scoliosis & Spine Tumor Center at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano. A physician with a reputation for excellence and a kind and compassionate bedside manner, Dr. Lieberman is a fellowship-trained surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Specializing in the surgical treatment of spinal disorders, Dr. Lieberman has spent more than a dozen years performing complex spine surgeries and sharing his knowledge of the spine through research, philanthropy and teaching. He is committed to "providing the most appropriate and least invasive treatment for the spinal pathology at hand." Dr. Lieberman’s clinical interests include: adolescent and adult scoliosis, deformity reconstruction, spinal tumors, minimally invasive and robotic spinal surgery, cervical and lumbar degenerative disorders, including herniated discs and stenosis, spinal tumors, infections and spinal trauma.
Dr. Lieberman joined Texas Back Institute and Texas Health Plano from the Cleveland Clinic Florida where he served as the Chair of the hospital’s Medical, Interventional and Surgical Spine Center.
Dr. Lieberman is recognized nationally and internationally for his contributions to minimally invasive/endoscopic spinal surgery and for his contributions to the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. Through research, clinical trials and surgical innovation, he has been instrumental in advancing the use of minimally invasive spinal surgery techniques to treat scoliosis, herniated discs, lumbar degenerative disorders and osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. Dr. Lieberman was instrumental in the development of the SpineAssist surgical robot. The SpineAssist technology can be used in biopsies, to treat thoracic-lumbar fusion and vertebral compression fractures, and to correct scoliosis; it is the latest in advanced spine and orthopedic surgical technology.
Dr. Lieberman has produced more than 65 peer-reviewed publications and has more than 50 book chapters to his credit. He has presented more than 150 invited lectures at universities, hospitals, and national and international meetings.
Dr. Lieberman is also recognized nationally and internationally for his contributions to continuing medical education, teaching medical students and residents, and training clinical and research spine fellows. He has chaired more than 40 hands-on training courses teaching minimally invasive spinal surgical techniques to more than 500 surgeons.

Rajesh G. Arakal, M.D. is a world-renowned leader in the field of neck and back care who is an orthopedic spine surgeon with Texas Back Institute and serves as Director of Orthopedic Spine at Medical Center of Plano.
Dr. Arakal was the first student in college history to finish an honors degree in three years at the College of New Jersey. He then went on to New Jersey Medical School, a general surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency in Newark, New Jersey. He completed his spine surgery fellowship with Baylor College of Medicine in Houston at Texas Medical Center.
Dr. Arakal is also continuously writing and presenting professional articles, publications and speaking engagements to national and international audiences.
