Your doctor may refer you to the CoPE based on various criteria to ensure that this program is the best course of treatment for you at this point in time. Some of our major admission criteria include:
- The patient has no or minimal spinal pathology to account for pain.
- The patient has an inoperable pathology (e.g., multi-level disc disease).
- The patient has failed back surgery.
- The patient needs spine surgery, but workers comp has denied the request for surgery after multiple appeals.
- The patient was not mentally ready for surgery at the time.
- The patient relies too heavily on medications to moderate the pain.
